Trudy Christman - Director

A native of Niagara Falls and Lewiston, Trudy graduated from Lewiston-Porter Central School and NCCC with a degree in Tourism Management and Event Planning.  While living in New Orleans, LA and West Palm Beach, FL., her career expanded to Licensed Interior Designer and fashion consultant.  “It seems, I have an affinity for tourist destinations with great historic significance and vibrant communities.”

Returning to Niagara Falls in the late 1990’s, she held positions with the Niagara County Builders Association, Home Show event assistant; HANCI, Program Assistant; Realty USA, sales agent; Pine Avenue Business Association, Membership Director; NYS Senator Marc A. Coppola, Niagara Falls Assistant; The Niagara Arts and Cultural Center, Director of Development.

Well-known for her volunteer contributions, she served as:  president, vice president, treasurer of AARP Chapter #283 and Black Creek Block Club; a participating member of the Niagara County Block Club Council, the Niagara Beautification Commission, LaSalle Business and Professional Association; and a representative to NIMAC.

Trudy first served on the Friends of Oakwood Committee in 2012.  Since then, she has served two terms on the historic Oakwood Cemetery board of directors with responsibilities regarding public relations, event planning, and fundraising.

Three years ago, partnering with Marge Gillies and Pete Ames, Trudy helped create the Grand Gardens of the Niagara Portage: “I love the architecture of the past and the gardens that have been preserved from an earlier era. When Oakwood was named to the National Register of Historic Places, I was thrilled. The Oakwood Cemetery motto is so timely:  Niagara’s History is at Oakwood.”
