Events
At Oakwood, we host various events throughout the year to celebrate special occasions, support fundraising efforts, and promote educational opportunities. Here’s a look at what’s coming up.
Upcoming Events
Caring For Your Cemetery Days
Join us for two Caring for Your Cemetery Days:
Day 1 – Friday, April 25
Roll up your sleeves and join Oakwood staff and members of the Heritage Foundation for a general cleanup of the grounds. It is simple work, but it matters. Water and snacks will be provided.
Day 2 – Saturday, April 26
As part of the New York Department of State’s Caring for Your Cemetery program, learn the proper way to clean and care for a headstone. The first 10 registered participants will receive a free cleaning kit to take home and care for a loved one’s stone.
Cemeteries like Oakwood do not take care of themselves. They rely on people who understand that preservation is an act of respect.
Advanced registration is required:
Come for an hour or stay for the day. Every bit of care helps keep these stories standing.
Veterans Day
On Veterans Day, Oakwood Cemetery will host a service starting at 11 a.m., featuring a solemn remembrance ceremony with the sounding of taps on the bugle, rifle salutes, and the stirring sound of bagpipes.
